Reaching Sweden with Radio
The main cause of death for Swedes age 15-44 is suicide. Through a robust media presence these desperate people can be led to the One who can give meaning in their life - Jesus Christ.
Today, several years after the deregulation of the State's radio monopoly, this spiritually barren country still lacks quality Christian radio. How could this be? It should be a top priority for Christians to make use of the same media strategies that the the secular left so proficiently exploits. It is no wonder that after years of influence from the secular left, Swedes associate Christianity with witch burning and dangerous fundamentalism. This caricature does not describe the Jesus that we Christians follow.
Why is Radio so Important?
At Hope FM we are thankful that a great many people in Sweden witness to their neighbors, and that a great number of pastors are dutifully serving their parish. But this is not enough! The amount of work that needs to be done is too great, and the special nature of dealing with postmodernism's challenges requires a message from a great number of specialists. The recent inductee into The Radio Hall of Fame, Dr. James Dobson, has provided a perfect illustration as to how a specialist can serve a nation through radio. What Dr. Dobson has done so well in the USA should be done in Sweden.
